Negative Thoughts #1

My therapist has me going through an exercise this week. When I have a negative though, I am to put some space between me and that though by adding the words ‘I am noticing I am having the thought about______’

So here is my first one.

I am noticing I am having the thought that I am too ugly inside and out that no one would want to be close and intimate with me.

  1. Did you find that helped a bit in creating some more distance?


    1. It does help some. The goal isn’t to fix me with this step, but force me to recognize these thoughts so we can build something different as time progresses.

  2. I am VERY glad you are seeing a therapist. Just the act of trying to do something is really, really important.

    1. Yeah, I have seen a therapist before. This time seems different, maybe it’s my mindset, maybe it’s the therapist. Probably a combo of both. He says typically he can meet a person for 6 weeks and they can end the sessions, but I don’t think he realizes how F’d up I am. These negative thoughts are attached to my soul and will take a while to detach. Hopefully he’ll surprise me.
